Housed in the War Memorial Building and offering an in depth peek into the life of a marine in South Carolina, it provides 10,000 square feet of exhibits, artifacts, and memorabilia about the history of Marines and is also a premier research facility, offering historical archives and a manuscript collection second to none. For those who prefer exploring history from outside, a visit to Fort Frederick Heritage Preserve, 601 Old Fort Road in Port Royal, offers scenic water views, walking trails shaded by mature trees, and the remains of Fort Frederick.
