How Long is The Trip?
The time traveling from Augusta to Fripp Island all depends on your travel method. From Augusta, visitors can travel by car, train, or bus. However, all of these methods change travel time and routes.
Car
Traveling by car is the easiest and fastest way to get from Augusta to Fripp Island. The trip is 3 hours and 30 minutes long, so the trip is nice and easy. Rental cars are also available if you don’t have a car ready to go!
Alternative Travel Methods
Train
Traveling by train is also an option. Trains take longer and stop at different cities. If you’re looking for a scenic experience, this might fit you! One of the most popular Amtrak routes is from Denmark, SC, about an hour and a half from Augusta to Savannah, GA, and another hour and a half to Fripp Island.
Bus
Taking the bus is also an option for those looking for a more scenic and adventurous trip. Greyhound offers a few different routes, with Augusta as a starting point. Augusta to Savannah is the most direct route, but some buses go through Columbia, SC, and Jacksonville, FL. These two routes will take a bit longer but offer more opportunities to explore other areas!

Yamassee, SC
Yamassee, South Carolina, is a small town you’ll pass through. Even though it’s small, there are historical gems to be seen! Frampton Plantation House, Old Sheldon Church Ruins, and Auldbrass Plantation by Frank Lloyd Wright. All these attractions are unique and great ways to experience the Lowcountry’s history.
Beaufort, SC
Beaufort is a larger town with plenty to do. It’s perfect for those who want to experience southern charm and history. Consider taking a carriage ride around the city or visiting one of the many museums. The Battery Creek and Parris Island museums are both excellent choices!
