Fripp Island is a prime destination for fishing enthusiasts of all levels. With opportunities year-round, each season offers unique experiences for a great catch. Wardle’s Landing is a fishing pier on the island, offering beautiful marsh views and a great spot to cast a line (learn more about Wardle's Landing here). 

If you need equipment, the Paddle Shack has you covered, offering an assortment of rentals. For those looking for guided fishing experiences, charter a trip through the Fripp Island Marina by calling 843-838-843-838-15177. Boat rentals are also available at the marina, along with bait and fishing gear for purchase.

Memorial Day Fishing Tournament | May 

In May, we host the Memorial Day Fishing Tournament. Enjoy our Captain’s dinner and hit the water at sunrise. At 6 p.m., all fish are weighed in, and prizes are awarded for the largest Wahoo, Dolphin, King Mackerel, and Spanish Mackerel. Saturday is our fun weigh-in day with live entertainment, a cookout, and more. Stay for a weekend and earn some new tall fish tales!

Labor Day Kingfish tournament | September 

Labor Day may mean summer is officially over, but the fishing is better than ever. Enjoy our Captain’s dinner and hit the water at sunrise. At 6 p.m., all fish are weighed in, and prizes are awarded for the largest Kingfish. Saturday is our fun weigh-in day with live entertainment, a cookout, and more.


Annual Fripp Island Inshore Tournament | October 

  • October brings the Inshore Tournament. Three-man teams will fish from the Fripp Island Marina with weigh-in by 4pm.
  • Species: 
    • Flounder - 16” total length minimum
    • Trout - 14” total length minimum
    • Redfish - 15” Minimum to 23” maximum (pinched tail) 
    • Whiting - Fits on the hook 
  • Prizes will be awarded for the 1st and 2nd HEAVIEST LEGAL fish in each category. There will also be an overall winner based on points in each category.


Kid’s Fishing Tournament | November 

Fishermen ages 6 to 15 have their own event, the Kids’ Fishing Tourney, in November. Held the day after Thanksgiving, fishermen angle for trout, bass, flounder, spot, and others. Participants can fish from the marina docks, a boat, in the surf, your private fishing hole, or from the Maxwell Memorial Bridge. There’s no entry fee, but fishermen must supply their own rod, reel, and tackle. Prizes are given for the largest fish in each category.
