Crabbing

reel in the fun on fripp island's shores.

Fripp Island is a fantastic destination for crabbing, offering a fun and engaging activity for all ages. With its beautiful coast and vast marshes, crabbing is a popular pastime around the island. There's a dedicated crabbing dock located close to the front of the island, making it easy for visitors to try their hand at catching blue crabs.

Helpful reminders:
  • Early mornings and high tides tend to be the best times for crabbing.
  • Ensure all bait and crabbing waste are properly disposed of to keep the island clean. Adhere to South Carolina’s crabbing laws, including size limits, catch limits, and when to release crabs.
  • Make sure you have the right crabbing gear, such as a net, line, and bait, which can be found at the marina.
  • Be cautious around the crabbing dock, especially with young children, and avoid leaning over the water.
