Ocean Point Golf Links
Ocean Point Golf Links, Fripp Island Resort’s original golfing jewel, stands out as one of South Carolina’s premier golf destinations, nestled in one of the state’s most exquisite resorts. Since opening its fairways in 1964, this oceanfront treasure, designed by the illustrious George Cobb – a design consultant for Augusta National and a mastermind behind several Major Championship venues – has offered golfers a unique and breathtaking experience. Cobb’s design excellence is vividly displayed at Ocean Point, with five of its holes featuring unparalleled ocean views, enriching your golfing journey with stunning coastal panoramas and capturing the true spirit of seaside golf.
A multi-million dollar renovation was completed in 2024 and has modernized the classic Ocean Point layout to elevate the overall playing experience while also paying tribute to the course’s original designer, George Cobb Sr. Dye Designs Group reviewed original Cobb design plans from multiple courses to gain inspiration for the Ocean Point project.
"The Point" is celebrated for its small, well-bunkered greens, demanding meticulous accuracy in iron play. Understanding the coastal breeze's impact, Cobb ingeniously allowed players the option to run the ball onto the majority of the greens, a strategy that becomes crucial on windy days. This design philosophy not only showcases Cobb’s mastery but also highlights the symbiotic relationship between the golfer, the course, and the natural elements. A round at Ocean Point is a dance with the coastal winds, a challenge of skill, and an immersion into the grandeur of nature’s beauty.

"Great ocean side course!"
"I have played this course numerous times. It is a great ocean side course. Easily walkable if you desire. The course is in great condition. Although it is a resort course, it was not built to sell more lots; it feels as though the lots were laid out after the course was routed. No long hikes between one green and the next tee. 5 holes are on the ocean or sound including the 18th which is one of my favorite holes I have ever played."
"This was one of the best and most scenic (ocean and sound views, deer everywhere, etc.) golf courses I’ve played. Fantastic layout. All aspects were of the course were incredibly well maintained. Staff was first class and genuinely wanted you to have a first class experience."
Recognized by Corporate Meetings & Incentives as a Golden Links Award Winner, Ocean Point has received a 4 STAR rating by Golf Digest. The traditional links-style par 72 layouts is found on the northernmost point of Fripp Island and features several holes that are situated directly on the Atlantic Ocean and the Fripp Inlet. The majestic views on the 9th, 10th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 18th, holes will rival any in golf.
