Ready for your South Carolina Golf Trip?

There's a certain breed of traveler that is a little different than all the rest; this vacationer may often carry pockets filled with markers and tees, jiggling their contents at moments, stepping back away from the person they are talking with to swing an imaginary club, as they talk about all the ways they got it right and all the ways they got it wrong during their last time on the course. South Carolina is a golf mecca for many with beautiful and fun courses found from the foothills to the coast. With famous golf destinations such as Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head, players have planned golf trips to South Carolina for years. While these locations offer plenty in terms of golf courses, you should consider Fripp Island Resort for your next South Carolina golf trip. Fripp Island Resort offers two enjoyable and challenging courses, post-round dinning options along with private homes that provide comfortable accommodations for groups of all sizes.Considering Fripp Island Resort for your next South Carolina golf trip? Get the Guide

Obviously, your South Carolina golf trip centers around the on course experience. At Fripp Island Resort, we offer two course with stunning views, challenging layouts and overall great golf experiences.

Ocean Point Golf Links

Ocean Point is really what could be considered our founding father, having been the centerpiece of Fripp Island Golf & Beach Resort since the first golfers teed off in 1964. Its architect, George Cobb, was known for designing some of the best courses in the land, and we like to think he was at his best when he created Ocean Point. As a matter of fact, we also think that no South Carolina golf trip would be considered complete without a round at Ocean Point, but we will leave that up to you to decide. The 18 holes of this stellar course, in any case, are ones that provide a challenge to all who hit there, having to fight the ocean breezes that don't tiptoe in like a cat on a hot tin roof, but roar in like a mighty lion, perhaps making it difficult to play if it weren't for the simple realization that Mr. Cobb factored those breezes into his design and offers way to counter the wind. Offering a verdant and well-groomed landscape, mature trees, and stunning views of the waters that surround Fripp Island, Ocean Point may be your favorite South Carolina golf course.

Ocean Creek Course

Our Ocean Creek course, offers a second option to fall in love. Much newer, but still offering a history, it was built in 1995 and designed by a pair of men that most golfers recognize by name, Davis Love III and Paul Cowley. This course is known for its views of the marshes and for the fact that its landscape is more jungle than urban and its 6th & 7th holes are the ones that will test your skills the most, while also offering views that will make you never want to golf anywhere else in South Carolina or the world. This course may also offer peeks at the unique wildlife that makes South Carolina their home, so keep your phone on camera mode in cases something wild makes an appearance.

Post Round Fun

Whether it's in the clubhouse or one of the dinning options at the resort, there are plenty of options for your group to gather after the round, enjoy some food and ice cold beverages and see how everyone's round stacked up. If you are looking for a simple deli, a beach grill, the more formal Beach Club or perhaps cooking some steaks on the grill at your vacation rental, we have plenty of options for your group.

When Is the Best Time to Play

As you may know, the spring and fall are peak golf seasons here in South Carolina. With moderate temperatures and mild weather the spring and fall are ideal for hitting the links. But South Carolina is a four season golf destination. Many golfers enjoy our cooler temperatures in the winter or getting an early morning round in during the summer before hitting the beach. Whenever you decide to visit, we know you will have an enjoyable experience.
