Where to Find Hidden Gems on Fripp Island?

Wardle’s Landing Pier

one of our favorite gems on Fripp Island is Wardle’s Landing Pier. The short wooden pier is an angler’s paradise, and rumor has it, that it’s one of the best places to go crabbing on the island! Wardle’s Landing is also a great place to watch the sunset. The pier sits just below the mouth of Skull Creek and overlooks Skull Inlet, which means there’s plenty to enjoy, no matter who you’re with or how you like to spend your time outdoors!

Audubon Nature Trail

The Audubon Trail is arguably the best location on the island to observe the area’s stunning maritime forest. The secret trail lies just off of Porpoise Drive, near the turn to Fairway Club Road. The trail is lined with oaks, pines, palms, and magnolias that grow in dense clusters and provide the ideal habitats for our local wildlife. A stroll along this will begin with dense forests but by the end, you’ll reach a bright opening to a grassy marsh.

Pritchards Island Ferry

If you’ve fallen in love with the beauty of the Lowcountry, another way to enjoy it is by visiting Pritchards Island. The uninhabited island is located just southwest of Fripp. It is owned by the University of South Carolina and welcomes visitors every day. Pritchards Island is only accessible by water so whether you’re kayaking or boating across Skull Inlet, the easiest way to reach Pritchards Island is from the shores of Fripp!
